Dynamic Modeling of Major depressive disorder considering the effects of third wave cognitive behavioral therapy and antidepressants on depressive disorder.

Background and Aim: The major depressive disorder is a long and lasting disorder, resulting in the creation of major functional and social disorders. According to the World Health Organization, the major depressive disorder will become the second major cause of disease worldwide in ۲۰۲۰ Methods using MATLAB programming and model parameters change, each represents an effective factor in depression disorder, the effect of antidepressants drugs and third wave cognitive behavioral treatments over the period of a ۶۴-year-old natural life has been investigated Results: The purpose of this thesis is to present a second-order nonlinear dynamic model for the underlying depression disorder using computational modelling that can justify the conditions of occurrence and return of depression periods. In this model, mathematical equations are presented which consist of several effective quantities in the generation of major depressive disorder such as the volume of the hippocampus, serotonin levels, amygdala volume, psychological external factors and unpredictable processes and the background of previous periods of the patient is considered Conclusion: The results of the model show that in the dynamic model, duration curve of depression in patients under the antidepressants drugs and the third wave cognitive behavioral therapy is widespread, and the mean is ۱۰۱۹ days. Duration remission time have been ۱۴۴, ۷۱, ۶۸, and ۵۹ months respectively under following conditions: receiving no treatment; receiving antidepressants; receiving dialectical behavior therapy; and, receiving a combination of antidepressants and dialectical behavior therapy. The results from dynamic modeling showed that combined method of the third wave cognitive behavioral therapy interventions and antidepressants will provide better outcomes in treatment for depression and relapse prevention. The study developed a mathematical framework, which will eventually lead to the development of more detailed models for a major depressive disorder and a better understanding of the major depression disorder and its effects on cognitive processes.
