The process of time metaphor in Persian

Background and Aim: Metaphor is a systematic mapping between two conceptual domains. In metaphor; an Experimental domain that is called as source domain is mapped to another domain as target domain. Methods: The method of this study is corpus analysis & it is included contemporary Farsi writing texts from Persian language databases. This sample corpus includes ۲۸ works by authors, like; (Hedaiat, ۱۳۱۵,۱۳۳۲), (Golestan;۱۳۲۷& ۱۳۵۳), (Ebrahimi, ۱۳۸۲ & ۱۳۴۵), (Jamalzadeh, ۱۳۴۰), (Daneshvar, ۱۳۴۸), (Golshiri, ۱۳۴۸), (Ale Ahmad, ۱۳۳۷, ۱۳۳۳,۱۳۴۳, ۱۳۳۷), (Saiedi, ۱۳۵۳), (Dolat Abadi, ۱۳۷۹ &۱۳۶۷),(Pezeshzad, ۱۳۴۹),(Behrangi, ۱۳۴۲,۱۳۵۶),(Hegazi۱۳۴۹,۱۳۵۲), (Chobak۱ ۳۴۴,۱۳۲۸),(Nafisi, ۱۳۲۰) & (Parsi Pour, ۱۳۶۹). Results: The purpose of this study is to investigate conceptual metaphors of time in Persian. Conclusion: After corpus analysis; ۴۰۵ metaphoric statements with ۱۸ mappings were extracted. Results showed; primary domains," object", "matter", "direction" & "place" are most used as corpus primary domains for time metaphorical statements. In another word; primary domains as moving object, direction, place, fixed place & moving human are primary domains for time that all of them refer to a particular aspect of the concept of place.
