In today's world, where construction and civil engineering projects are expanding in scale, complexity, and stakeholders, successful management of these projects requires a combination of advanced technical skills and strong human capabilities. Project and construction management, especially in the direction of sustainable development and civil engineering, beyond time and budget planning, requires a deep understanding and effective management of human dynamics, conflicts, communication, and motivation in multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholders. In this context, Emotional Intelligence (EI), as a set of abilities including self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills, plays a vital role in the successful management of the human dimensions of civil engineering projects. This study, emphasizing the human-centered approach in project and construction management, examines how the emotional intelligence of project managers affects the reduction of human-related challenges (such as conflicts, communication issues, and lack of trust) and increases project success factors. Furthermore, given the significant advances in Artificial Intelligence (AI), this study explores the transformative role of AI as a powerful tool in empowering and enhancing the emotional intelligence of project managers and construction teams. With the ability to analyze vast amounts of behavioral and communication data in the project environment, AI-based tools can provide valuable insights into the emotional state of teams, predict potential conflict, and provide intelligent and targeted feedback to managers. This paper shows how the strategic and ethical use of AI can not only help improve traditional project management and construction processes, but also create a more empathetic and productive workplace by strengthening the emotional capabilities of managers and team members. This innovative combination of human emotional intelligence and the computational power of artificial intelligence is a new and necessary step towards achieving optimal project and construction management, reducing human risks, increasing stakeholder satisfaction, and ultimately achieving the long-term goals of prosperity and sustainable development.
