چکیده مقاله:
The advancement of power electronics has revolutionized the modern power system, enabling efficient, flexible, and intelligent control over generation, transmission, and distribution of electric energy. In the field of power generation, power electronic converters play a crucial role in integrating renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic (PV) systems and wind turbines by conditioning power and enhancing grid compatibility. In transmission systems, high-voltage direct current (HVDC) technology and Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) significantly improve power flow control, voltage regulation, and system stability over long distances. Meanwhile, in distribution networks, smart inverters, voltage regulators, and distributed generation interfaces powered by power electronics contribute to real-time demand-response, energy efficiency, and grid resilience. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the role of power electronics across all stages of the electric power system. It also outlines current challenges, including harmonics, switching losses, and control complexity, while discussing future trends such as wide-bandgap semiconductors, digital control, and artificial intelligence-based solutions. The study concludes that power electronics not only enhances technical performance but also serves as the backbone of the modern smart grid.
