This paper presents an overview of modern condition monitoring techniques applied in electrical distribution substations, focusing on the integration of intelligent systems for fault detection, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance. Various sensing technologies, data acquisition methods, and signal processing approaches are discussed, highlighting their role in real-time assessment of equipment health and operational performance. Moreover, the implementation of machine learning algorithms and expert systems is reviewed as effective solutions for improving decision-making and minimizing downtime. The proposed framework demonstrates how combining advanced monitoring with intelligent analytics can enhance reliability, extend asset lifespan, and reduce operational costs. Finally, challenges related to data management, cybersecurity, and standardization are identified, offering insights into future trends and research opportunities in this field.
