چکیده مقاله:
Today, sanitary landfill is one of the most common approaches for municipal solid waste disposal, but there is a major drawback, which is the production of highly contaminated leachate. These leachates must be properly treated before discharging into the environment. Landfill leachate contains highly toxic and resistant substances that are harmful to the environment and human health. Therefore, the risk(s) of potentially harmful landfill leachate discharges to the environment must be assessed and measured to make effective choices regarding landfill leachate management and treatment. The purpose of this research is to treat the leachate of the Urmia urban waste disposal site using pozzolan mineral this mineral has rich and accessible reserves all over the world and is considered an economical and efficient option for leachate treatment. In this regard, the experiments of reducing the microbial load and leachate toxic elements by pozzolan in different sizes of absorbents were investigated to remove the pollution. According to the results, in all of the experiments, the amount of ammonium reduction was more than ۹۵%. Also, bacterial culture using the method serial dilution in nutrient agar medium showed a decrease in the microbial load from ۴۲ numbers in dilution ۱۰−۱۶ to ۸۱ numbers in dilution ۱۰−۴. By reducing the size of the adsorbent, the value of the Biochemical oxygen demand parameter (BOD) has decreased by ۹۴.۳%. Regarding the chemical oxygen demand parameter (COD), the highest reduction of up to ۹۵.۹% is from a process similar to biochemical oxygen demand.
