The integration of Ultraviolet-C (UVC) Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) into air disinfection systems represents a significant advancement in public health technology. This article provides a comprehensive overview of UVC LED technology, its germicidal mechanisms, and its application in air purification devices. We delve into the fundamental principles of UV light, the distinct advantages of UVC LEDs over traditional mercury-vapor lamps, and the detailed considerations for designing and constructing effective UVC LED air disinfectant devices. Furthermore, the article explores various applications across healthcare, public, and residential settings, while also addressing current challenges and future prospects, including the promising role of Far-UVC technology. Drawing upon recent research, this paper highlights the potential of UVC LEDs to enhance indoor air quality and mitigate the spread of airborne pathogens, contributing to healthier environments worldwide.
