On Multipliers Viewed as Gelfand-Representable Operators

Using the Gelfand transform, we characterize multipliers T on commutative faithful Banach algebras via Tx = r and show that for invertible T, the deformed algebra AT = (A, x- Ty) preserves both the maximal ideal space A(A) and multiplier algebra M(A).
