چکیده مقاله:

Background: One of the problems in times of crisis or unexpected events is the lack of enough blood in the hospital's blood banks. This problem is more significant in the place of disaster or crisis. In emergency situations, providing sufficient and healthy blood to meet emergency needs brings many challenges. There are also practical ways to improve this system. Creating a comprehensive blood transfusion bank in crisis conditions is one of the basic needs of healthcare systems. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted as a review and based on Arksey & O'Malley's five-step approach. PubMed, Web of Sciences and Scopus databases were searched in ۲۰۱۵-۲۰۲۴ to find English-language articles with full text. In this research, ۱۴ articles were reviewed based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria and content suitability with the purpose of the study. Results: The study investigates the challenges and solutions related to establishing a comprehensive blood transfusion bank during critical conditions. It identifies issues such as insufficient blood resources, transportation and distribution problems, lack of coordination among institutions, and inadequate technology and information systems. To address these challenges, the study suggests implementing new technologies for blood supply chain management, developing online coordination systems, enhancing public awareness and education for blood donation participation, improving transportation and storage infrastructure, and fostering international cooperation. Conclusion: The study emphasizes the importance of new technologies, public education, improved coordination among institutions, and enhanced infrastructure to effectively manage crises in blood transfusion systems. The findings aim to assist policymakers and health managers in developing the necessary infrastructure for comprehensive blood transfusion banks and to enhance the healthcare system's readiness for future crises.
