چکیده مقاله:

Background: Malaria is a parasitic disease. A group of protozoan parasites called Plasmodium are the cause of the disease transmission to humans through the bite of female Anopheles mosquitoes. This disease manifests itself as an acute infection in most cases, severe and sometimes prolonged, with features of intermittent fever and chills, anemia, and spleen enlargement, and sometimes with other simple or fatal features. The importance of this disease is significant due to its high prevalence and mortality. Malaria parasites are transmitted to humans by a family of mosquitoes called Anopheles, which includes several species. The Anopheles stephensi species is the main vector of malaria in Iran. This survey aimed to determine the effect of Fluralaner on Anopheles stephensi, the main vector of malaria in Iran. Materials and Methods: In this study, Fluralaner was administered orally at a dose of ۰.۵ mg Fluralaner per kilogram of body weight, and then the calculated amount was added to the water consumed by mice within ۲۴ hours. It was repeated ۷ days later. In each round of the experiment, ۲۵ female Anopheles mosquitoes, which had been blood-fed and sugar water taken from them ۲۴ hours before, were used in ۴ repetitions. Mice were exposed to Anopheles bites and the percentage of mortality and blood-feeding of mice was calculated after ۲۴ hours. Results: The results showed that the percentage of mortality of mosquitoes was ۱۰۰%. Conclusion: Based on the development of effective methods to prevent mosquitoes from blood-feeding on the host and subsequently control malaria, this study showed that the use of Fluralaner orally to mosquito hosts, especially animals, is important in controlling malaria vectors and can be further studied by researchers as a new method.
