This review covers the adoption of digital platforms, AI, and blended learning to teach the English language. Based on recent empirical studies conducted in China, Indonesia, and other contexts, this paper identifies how AI-driven systems, such as Foreign Language Intelligent Teaching (FLIT) platforms, intelligent grading tools, and speech recognition technologies, have been found to enhance the language proficiency of and engagement by students. The evidence showed that blended learning models that combined online and offline instructions enhanced reading, writing, listening, and speaking while enhancing cognitive and behavioral engagement. However, these modes also presented several challenges related to technological adaptability, unequal distribution of resources, and limited emotional engagement outcomes. The findings stress the transforming power of AI-supported blended learning while pointing to the need to pay attention to teacher training, infrastructure development, and human contact in a balanced way. This review therefore points out that AI and digital platforms, when strategically implemented, can substantially optimize effectiveness in the teaching of English and learner motivation.
