Citric Acid: Green, Eco-Friendly and Natural Catalyst for Synthesis of β-Enaminones under Microwave Irradiation

The enaminone scaffold is a versatile building block used in organic synthesis. Herein, a series of β-enaminones were synthesized in good to excellent yields from the reaction of different primary amines with ۱,۳-dicarbonyl compounds using citric acid as a green, low-cost and efficient catalyst under solvent-free MW-promoted conditions.
