Electronic Municipal network infrastructure requirements

The fast-developing world of information technology is changing the way businesses of all sizes operate. Businesses are using computer networking technology to become more efficient, more proactive, and more reliant on their information systems than ever before. Technology has allowed businesses to reach beyond the traditional way of doing business. Telecommuting, electronic commerce, and video teleconferencing, allows businesses to operate more efficiently today than ever before. Furthermore, the construction of W ide Area Networks (WANs) will enable government agencies and local governments to carry out information transactions efficiently. Information disclosure will be come more advanced, and citizens will be able to easily access information on laws and systems, as well as government-issued materials, statistical data and other documents via Internet-based government information services. E-municipal ultimate goal is to provide opportunities for user-friendly mplementation of the IT achievements in municipal administration working processes and services to citizens. In order to make these services vailable, it will be necessary to establish networks and systems infrastructures. The first requirement is for a network that will connect government agencies on the national and local levels. In this paper, we investigate the required network infrastructures and propose proper solutions for implementing e-municipal. These solutions are mostly based on available models and experiences in developed countries. We mainly focus on the necessities of using Community Area Network, role of wireless networks in developing Wide Area Networks (WAN) and Wireless networks standards.
