چکیده مقاله:
Background: Fibrosarcomas are malignant neoplasms with fibroblastic origin and are normally rare in dogs (Patnaik et al., ۱۹۸۴; Bastianello, ۱۹۸۳). Sclerosing is an exceptional low-grade variant with massive deposition of dense collagen, indolent growth, and general favorable prognosis if provided proper treatment (Hendrick & Mahaffey, ۱۹۹۳). It has to be diagnosed since clinical and cytological examination might be unable to differentiate it from other soft tissue sarcomas (Goldschmidt & Hendrick, ۲۰۰۲). Methods: A five-year-old, intact male American Bully with a nodule on the distal end of the left hindlimb. Fine-needle aspiration was done and cytology performed a mesenchymal neoplasm. The mass was removed surgically under general anesthesia, and the tissue was submitted for histopathological examination. Postoperative hematology and serum biochemistry (CBC and CBT) were run to assess systemic health. Results: Histopathology revealed strands and cords of regular epithelioid cells with pale thin cytoplasm and oval to round nuclei in dense sclerotic stroma. Extremely rare mitotic figures were present. Diagnosis was established as sclerosing fibrosarcoma (low grade). Post-operative hemogram remained normal. Adjuvant chemotherapy was not administered, but the patient was posted for six-monthly follow-up to identify recurrence early. Conclusion: This case highlights the significance of histopathology in the accurate classification of soft tissue tumors (Hendrick & Mahaffey, ۱۹۹۳). Low-grade sclerosing fibrosarcoma should be treated with surgical resection, and follow-up is essential for detecting recurrence and achieving a good outcome (Liptak & Forrest, ۲۰۱۳).
