Since the beginning of in vitro fertilization (IVF), which resulted in the birth of the world's first baby, the field of reproductive medicine has significantly evolved. Recently, artificial intelligence (AI) has been implemented in assisted reproduction, providing the ability of machines to perform advanced functions, such as learning, processing, and interacting. Possible combinations of AI algorithms using massive data and reproductive medicine might reduce treatment costs and predict the outcomes. The machine receives billions and trillions of data points and learns to optimize the ratio of success rate for each patient. This review incorporates historical landmarks of assisted reproduction technology (ART) and recently innovated AI applications in the ART program in order to explore the impact of AI/ML on reproductive outcomes. To date, this is the first review to cover all technical aspects of AI in the ART laboratory.
