The Role of Digital Technologies in Shaping Sustainable Urban Identities

Urban areas are turning more to digital tech to support sustainable growth and cultural identity while keeping things green and engaging. This study looks at how digital systems fit into the Peace and Serenity Center, a ۵,۰۰۰-square-meter space in Tehran’s Region ۲۲ aimed at promoting meditation, yoga, peace exhibitions, and community well-being. The center's Building Management System (BMS) coordinates various interactive features like musical fountains, pressure-sensitive floors, and solar-powered lights, making it a sustainable urban spot. With renewable materials like recycled steel and reclaimed wood, the center reduces its carbon footprint while creating a nature-friendly atmosphere. The interactive fountains play soothing music, engaging visitors on an emotional level. The responsive flooring enhances meditative experiences through light and sound cues, building a peaceful vibe. This paper shows how digital tech influences urban identity by creating flexible, user-friendly environments that meet sustainability goals. It also finds that the BMS cuts energy use for interactive features by ۱۵-۲۰%, and the solar setup ensures lighting runs off the grid. The center’s focus on peace makes it a key part of the urban landscape in Region ۲۲, providing a model for cities that want to mix technology, culture, and sustainability.
