چکیده مقاله:

Recent research on silty sands has shown that the presence of silt particles within the soil matrix can significantly influence liquefaction resistance. However, the combined effects of fines content and relative density remain a subject of ongoing debate. Some studies suggest that increasing silt content may either enhance, reduce, or have no effect on the liquefaction resistance. To address these inconsistencies, a series of drained, constant-volume monotonic direct simple shear tests were conducted on sand specimens containing up to ۳۰% silt fines. The specimens were reconstituted using the moist tamping method and tested at two distinct relative densities. The primary objective of this study is to evaluate the liquefaction resistance of silty sands within the critical state framework. Additionally, the study examines the influence of silt fines content and relative density on the liquefaction behavior of silty sands. The results indicate that increasing silt content consistently reduces liquefaction resistance (between ۴۴ and ۸۵%) regardless of relative density, while increasing relative density improves resistance (up to ۵۹%) and can counteract the negative effects of higher fines content.
