چکیده مقاله:

Seismic retrofitting of existing reinforced concrete (RC) buildings requires strategic selection of appropriate damping systems based on structural characteristics and seismic hazard types. This study presents a comprehensive period-dependent assessment of Added Damping and Stiffness (ADAS) dampers for RC building retrofit applications. Through systematic analysis of ۲۱۰ frame models (۱-۱۰ stories) with fundamental periods ranging from ۰.۰۲ to ۳.۳۳ seconds, we evaluate ADAS effectiveness under both near-field and far-field earthquake scenarios using Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA). Results reveal distinct period-dependent performance patterns: ADAS dampers provide optimal drift mitigation for medium-period structures (۰.۵-۱.۵s) under far-field conditions, while demonstrating superior collapse capacity enhancement for medium-to-high period buildings under near-field excitations. Statistical analysis confirms strong correlations between structural period and ADAS effectiveness (r = -۰.۸۲ for far-field PGA improvement, r = ۰.۱۷ for near-field). These findings establish quantitative guidelines for engineers to optimize ADAS damper selection, contributing to more effective and economical seismic retrofitting strategies.
