چکیده مقاله:

Background: Sleep disorders are a common comorbidity in substance use disorders, contributing to poor treatment outcomes and increased risk of relapse. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a multicomponent sleep hygiene education program on sleep quality in this population. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted on ۷۴ patients with substance use disorders. Participants were allocated to an intervention group (n=۳۷) receiving four sessions of sleep hygiene education based on cognitive-behavioral principles, or a control group (n=۳۷) receiving standard care. Sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) before and immediately after the intervention. Results: After the intervention, significant improvements were observed in the intervention group compared to the control group in the global PSQI score (P=۰.۰۰۴) and specific components, including sleep disturbances (P=۰.۰۲), use of sleep medication (P=۰.۰۰۳), and daytime dysfunction (P=۰.۰۱). Conclusion: A structured, multicomponent sleep hygiene education program effectively improves sleep quality in patients with substance use disorders. Integrating such non-pharmacological interventions into standard addiction treatment protocols is recommended to enhance overall recovery. Keywords: sleep hygiene, substance abuse, sleep quality, cognitive-behavioral therapy, randomized controlled trial
