چکیده مقاله:

The objective of this study was to assess the effect of nanoparticles of potassium sulfate on the essential oil of peppermint (Mentha piperita L.). The nanoparticles were synthesized by a green method using mulberry leaves extract and potassium sulfate solution. The results showed that the foliar spray of potassium nanoparticle on peppermint plant caused considerable changes in the quantity and quality of the plant essential oils. The component of allo-ocimene, which was only ۲.۹% in the control group, increased to about ۴-folds in the nanoparticles treated groups of the plants. Pulegone, which was present in a small amount in the control group, rose approximately ۱۰۰ times in nanoparticles treated groups. Total oil yield of essential oil increased under the treatment of potassium nanoparticles. The essential oil yield increased significantly from ۰.۷۸% (v/w) in the control group to ۱.۲۵ % in the peppermint plants group treated with ۱ mg/mL of potassium nanoparticles at p≤۰.۰۵.
