چکیده مقاله:
nodules. This study aimed to examine the concordance between FNA samples and cell blocks in determining the nature of thyroid nodules. The important characteristics of thyroid nodules, including size, location, and nature of the nodule identified by FNA and cell block, as well as the final diagnosis reviewed by a pathologist after nodule surgery, were examined over a ۳-year period. For the description and analysis of data, SPSS software was used. Out of ۹۴ patients, ۱۱ were men and ۸۳ were women. The average age was ۳۰.۴۳ ± ۱۲.۱۲, and the average size of the nodules was ۲۹.۶۱ ± ۱۶.۷۳ millimeters. The nodules were found in the right lobe in ۴۳ patients (۴۵.۷%), the left lobe in ۳۰ patients (۳۱.۹%), the isthmus in ۵ patients (۵.۳%), and both lobes in ۱۶ individuals (۱۷%). Of the patients, ۴۰ (۴۲.۵%) had PTC nodules and ۵۴ (۵۷.۵%) had MNG nodules.Cell blocks were used for only ۴۶ (۴۹%) patients, among whom ۴۲ (۵۰.۶%) were women and ۴ (۳۶%) were men. The final diagnosis was MNG in ۴۸ (۵۱%) patients, PTC in ۳۹ (۴۱.۴%) patients, and FTA in ۷ (۸%) patients. Considering the study results, and their comparison with other conducted studies, it can be concluded that FNA alone is highly capable of diagnosing the nature of thyroid nodules, and cellular block can be used as a complementary method alongside FNA
