چکیده مقاله:

Introduction and Aim: Workplace violence (WPV) against nurses, particularly in emergency departments, is a global challenge with devastating consequences, including reduced job satisfaction, burnout, and increased turnover intention. This study was designed to investigate the prevalence, types, and associated factors of violence against nurses in the emergency departments of selected hospitals in Qom Materials and Methods: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study conducted in ۲۰۲۰-۲۰۲۱ to examine the status of violence against nurses working in the emergency departments of three selected public hospitals in Qom province. Using convenience sampling, ۱۵۴ nurses were selected. The data collection tool was a ۳۱-item questionnaire titled "Workplace Violence Survey," developed and adapted based on standard instruments from international organizations (ILO, WHO, ICN, PSI). It included sections on demographic information, types of violence (verbal, threat, physical, sexual, racial), as well as outcomes and follow-up actions. The validity of this questionnaire had been previously confirmed, and its reliability coefficient was reported as ۰.۸. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS software version ۲۶, employing Chi-square and Logistic Regression tests at a significance level of ۰.۰۵. Results:  The overall prevalence of violence was ۸۰.۵% (۱۲۴ individuals). The most common type of violence was verbal abuse (۷۷.۳% of the total sample and ۹۶.۰% of victims). No significant association was found between demographic variables (gender, age, ethnicity, work experience, marital status) and experiencing violence (p>۰.۰۵). Logistic regression also showed that none of the demographic variables had predictive power for experiencing violence Conclusion: Given that emergency department nurses commonly experience high levels of violence, implementing measures to prevent and reduce violence incidents in the emergency department is essential
