چکیده مقاله:

In this study, a novel Cu (II) complex was designed from thiosemicarbazone and amino acid ligands on MCM-۴۱. This metal complex (MCM-۴۱@His-M-TSC) was prepared and characterized by FT-IR, XRD, TGA, BET, and DRS techniques. Analytical and spectroscopic analysis clearly confirm the presence of functional groups on the MCM-۴۱ surface and the formation of ligand bonds with the metal. Antibacterial properties of the (MCM-۴۱@His-M-TSC) complex were studied versus various microorganisms. Some microorganisms including gram-negative bacteria (e.g. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli), and also gram-positive bacteria (e.g. Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis) were tested. The compound exhibited potent inhibition against gram-positive bacteria especially Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus. Further studies showed that the metal complex disrupted the normal activity of bacteria and prevented their growth and reproduction by forming a hydrogen bond between the (CH=N) group of the ligand and the contents of the microorganism's cell. Also, Cu (II) complex displayed appropriate antifungal activities against Candida albicans.
