چکیده مقاله:
Water is considered a valuable resource, so its pollution of due to the presence of synthetic dyes has caused significant concerns, and the industry has always been known as the main source of these pollutions. Wastewater from various industrial such as leather, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, paper, and textile yields a significant amount of colored effluent. These effluents are very threatening and dangerous for human health and the environment. Methylene blue (MB) is an azo cationic dye that has diverse applications in cotton, medicine, wood and silk dyeing. Also, methyl orange (MO), an azo dye with anionic properties, is extensively used in textile, paper, paints, printing, leather, food and cosmetics industries. The existence of color MB in wastewater creates an adverse effect on the eyes and also causes diarrhea, vomiting and nausea. The main concerns that MO causes to human health are: nausea, eye and skin irritation, respiratory tract irritation and diarrhea. The toxic impact of MO on aquatic organisms has also been reported. Various technologies such as ion exchange, precipitation, flocculation, membrane filtration, biological oxidation, adsorption, photocatalytic degradation, etc. have been used to remove organic dyes. But among all these approaches, the surface absorption process has been considered as the most common and widely used method for water purification due to its easy operation, cheaper price, and flexibility. Clay materials such as zeolite have garnered much attention due to their special surface and structural characteristics, compatibility with the environment and high chemical stability that leads to an increase in absorption capacity. In this study, HY zeolites are functionalized by organic compounds containing nitrogen atoms and their role in the removal of methylene blue and methyl orange as azo dyes is investigated. The adsorbent was characterized using FT-IR, XRD, TGA, FE-SEM, and EDS-MAP techniques. The synthesis aimed to optimize and evaluate the removal efficiency of methylene blue and methyl orange from aqueous solutions by investigating key parameters, including initial pH, concentration, adsorbent dosage, and contact time. The results indicate that the highest adsorption capacities for each dyes follow the order: MB and MO with respective percentages of ۹۹% and ۹۲%.
