چکیده مقاله:

Wellbore instability represents a formidable barrier to efficient hydrocarbon reservoir development, often leading to operational delays, equipment damage, and economic losses exceeding billions annually. This study examines wellbore stability within the carbonate-dominated Asmari reservoir of the Kupal oilfield, Iran, leveraging an integrated dataset of well logs (density, sonic, neutron porosity) spanning depths of ۱۰,۰۰۰ - ۱۰,۹۰۰ m. Rock mechanical properties, in-situ stress regimes, and a safe mud weight window ranging from MPa (with an upper limit of A. MPa) were systematically derived through a combination of analytical techniques and validated using FLAC۳D numerical modeling. The approach comprehensively delineates stress distributions, identifies failure mechanisms (shear collapse and tensile fracturing), and characterizes elastoplastic behavior around the wellbore. By synthesizing field data, empirical correlations, and advanced computational simulations, this research establishes a rigorous, reproducible methodology that optimizes drilling operations and mitigates instability risks in carbonate reservoirs. The findings offer actionable insights for enhancing drilling safety and efficiency, with broader implications for geomechanical applications in tectonically complex settings worldwide.
