چکیده مقاله:

In the era of digital globalization, social media platforms have become pivotal arenas for multilingual expression, influencing how individuals construct and negotiate their identities in Asian contexts. This article explores the role of social media in shaping multilingual identities in Asia, drawing on empirical data from studies published since ۲۰۱۵. Through a literature review and analysis of key themes such as code-switching, linguistic hybridity, and platform affordances, it examines how users leverage multilingual practices to assert cultural, national, and personal identities in countries like India, China, and Southeast Asia. Data from social media corpus analysis reveal patterns of language use among diaspora communities and youth in multilingual societies. Findings indicate that social media fosters inclusive identity formation but also exacerbates linguistic inequalities due to algorithmic biases. The discussion highlights implications for language policy, education, and digital literacy in Asian societies, calling for further research into algorithmic influences on multilingual discourse. This article contributes to the study of Asian languages by synthesizing recent evidence and proposing a framework for understanding multilingual identity in the digital age.
