چکیده مقاله:

Primary dysmenorrhea is a common condition among adolescent girls, often managed with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which may cause side effects. This narrative review examines the potential role of almonds (Prunus dulcis) and their bioactive compounds—particularly vitamin E and magnesium—in reducing menstrual pain. A literature search was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, and other databases (۲۰۰۸–۲۰۲۴) using terms such as “almonds”, “dysmenorrhea,”, “girls”, “nutrition". ۳۳ relevant peer-reviewed studies were included. Findings suggest that almond nutrients may reduce uterine inflammation, modulate prostaglandins, and reduce smooth muscle contractions. While clinical trials directly linking almond consumption to dysmenorrhea are limited, evidence supports its potential as a complementary and safe nutritional intervention. More controlled studies are needed to confirm efficacy and dosage.
