چکیده مقاله:
This study explores the potential of natural compounds found in pomegranates and olives specifically tannins, flavonoids, and polyphenols as environmentally friendly corrosion inhibitors for metals. These bioactive compounds exhibit strong adsorption properties on metal surfaces, forming protective films that prevent electrochemical reactions responsible for corrosion. Tannins interact with metal ions to form passive layers; flavonoids inhibit both anodic and cathodic reactions through л-electron and hydroxyl group interactions; and polyphenols offer chelating and antioxidant effects that stabilize the metal surface. Due to their biodegradability, non-toxicity, and effectiveness in acidic environments, these plant-based compounds present a sustainable alternative to traditional chemical inhibitors.
