چکیده مقاله:

This study conducts a qualitative literary analysis employing descriptive analytical method to investigate the protagonist's identity formation process in Khaled Hosseini's novel And the Mountains Echoed (۲۰۱۳). The research employs an interdisciplinary theoretical framework combining sociological and psychological perspectives to examine both the narrative structure and the developmental stages of identity construction within the text. The analysis reveals how the protagonist's limited self-knowledge generates an existential condition characterized by fragmentation and incompleteness, metaphorically represented through the recurring puzzle motif. Hosseini's narrative technique effectively demonstrates the complex interplay between individual psychology and social determinants in identity formation. The study's findings suggest that deficient self-awareness creates an ontological imperative for self-discovery, with the protagonist's journey serving as a paradigmatic case of identity reconstruction amidst biographical discontinuity.
