An Electrochemical Sensor based on ZnO Nanoparticles-Incorporated MWCNTs for Sensitive Voltammetric Determination of Sertraline

The present study was conducted to offer a simple, cost-effective, and robust electrochemical sensing platform based on ZnO nanoparticles-incorporated multi-walled carbon nanotubes modified screen-printed carbon electrodes (ZnO NPs/MWCNTs/SPCE) for the voltammetric determination of sertraline. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) studies revealed that ZnO NPs incorporated MWCNTs on the surface of SPCE can effectively facilitate electron transfer and increase the active surface area, thereby enhancing the electrocatalytic performance for sertraline oxidation. Under the optimal experimental conditions and parameters, the DPV measurements showed that the oxidation peak currents were linearly proportional to the concentrations of sertraline in the range of ۰.۰۵ µM to ۳۵۰.۰ µM with a detection limit (LOD) of ۰.۰۲ µM. Finally, ZnO NPs/MWCNTs/SPCE achieved accurate determination of sertraline in urine and tablet samples with a relative standard deviation (RSD) of less than ۳.۷% and satisfactory recovery, demonstrating its good potential in practical applications.
