In photovoltaic (PV) systems, maximizing power extraction under varying environmental conditions is critical for improving overall energy efficiency. One of the key challenges is maintaining optimal power output under dynamic irradiance conditions, where the operating point of the PV array shifts frequently. This paper proposes a particle swarm optimization (PSO)-based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm to address this problem. PSO offers a fast, flexible, and derivative-free optimization approach capable of adapting to rapid changes in irradiance. The algorithm dynamically adjusts the duty cycle of the DC-DC boost converter to maximize the output power of the PV system. Simulation results under varying irradiance profiles demonstrate that the proposed method effectively tracks the maximum power point with good accuracy and response.
