Structural equations modeling in determining relationship between stress, quality of life and life expectancy with the mediating role of methods of coping with stress in cancer patients

The goal of this study is to determine the relationship between stress, quality of life and methods of coping with stress in cancer patients of Mashhad. Statistical population of this research is including cancer patients of Reza Oncology and Radiotherapy center in ۲۰۱۵. Number of samples in this research was estimated ۱۷۵ people according to population size (=۳۳۰n) and Krejcie and Morgan table. Three questionnaires including quality of life, DASS stress and Lazarus and Folkman coping with stress methods (۱۹۸۵) were used for data collection. This correlation research studied the relationships between variables in form of structural equations modeling using Lisrel ۸.۸ software. The results of this study showed consistency with most of the other conducted researches that if people use problem oriented method they will be able to maintain and balance their emotional reactions effectively and as a result immune themselves from stress effects. In other words, this study with the increasing knowledge of relationship between stress and quality of life has many implications with the problem-oriented coping method and requires more appropriate and effective interaction of cancer patients in order to improve their stress and their progress in various fields including treatment and it can have important psychological consequences for individuals. Therefore, it is valuable to try to teach stress inhibitory skills in problem oriented way during treatment in different ways to patients.
