Investigating corrosion caused by improper operation in CWT regime of a combined cycle power plant; Causes and solutions

The condition of a CCPP was investigated in terms of the corrosion rate of boiler tubes. With two chemical and metallurgical points of view, analysis was carried out, and the impact of operating instructions in CWT chemical control, measuring key parameters and controlling them within the permitted range, as well as operating conditions in terms of temperature, pressure, and the type of equipment were examined. Solutions were proposed to increase the time interval between repairs, including changing the permissible limits of the operating instructions, thickness measurement, improving the performance of the measuring equipment, and the correct use of the deaerator.
