چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Hypertensive pregnancy conditions are common and may have serious implications. Control of blood pressure with drugs like nifedipine, labetalol, and hydralazine is essential but their impact on fetal health must be studied. Methods: In this narrative review, an extensive search was conducted in the PubMed database and Google Scholar search engine using English keywords including Internet Antihypertensive Medications, Effects of Antihypertensive Medications on Pregnancy, Pregnancy. ۱۰ articles were found. After removing duplicates, outdated studies, and irrelevant content, ۵ articles published between ۲۰۱۹ and ۲۰۲۵ were selected for analysis and review. Result: Oral nifedipine is usually the drug of choice for pregnancy-induced severe hypertension due to preeclampsia since it can lower blood pressure. Evidence shows that it has an equivalent safety profile to other medications like hydralazine and labetalol, with no difference in fetal and maternal outcomes. While nifedipine is promising, more evidence is needed to definitely compare it with other antihypertensive drugs. Other medications, such as hydralazine, tend to cause more side effects, but studies remain unclear regarding whether they impact fetal development. Conclusion: Antihypertensive medication is essential in managing pregnancy hypertension. Further research is, however, needed to assess its long-term effects on fetal health and the safest drugs to use for pregnant women.
