چکیده مقاله:

This study aimed to investigate the effect of mediation on EFL learners’ pronunciation skill. Mediation is a language activity that has been unjustly neglected when preparing English students for their professional careers. To achieve this aim, ۶۰ intermediate institute learners participated in the study. They were selected from among a population of EFL learners via their performance on OPT. They were then divided into two groups of ۳۰ and were assigned to an experimental (Mediation group) and a control group (non-Mediation group). A pretest of English Pronunciation Test was administered to both groups, then they were taught Speaking and Pronunciation for ۱۰ sessions but with different methodologies. A posttest of the same English Pronunciation Test was then administered to both groups. The data of the study were analyzed using the independent samples t-test. The results indicated that Iranian EFL learners in the experimental group received higher pronunciation skill scores after being treated with mediation. The paper concluded that mediation can be successfully integrated in Speaking English syllabus and makes learning pronunciation of English more effective.
