Hidden Educational Costs of War: A Systematic Review of PTSD and Academic Procrastination among University Students

Armed conflicts pose substantial psychological and educational challenges for university students. This systematic review examines the relationship between war-induced Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and academic procrastination. Utilizing the PRISMA methodology, we identified ۲۲ empirical studies published between ۲۰۱۸ and ۲۰۲۴ that explore the effects of PTSD on students' cognitive performance and time management. Our findings highlight a consistent association between exposure to war trauma and increased academic procrastination. These effects underscore the need for trauma-informed interventions in higher education, especially for students in conflict-affected regions.
