چکیده مقاله:
Air pollution in hospitals is a critical public health issue that endangers patient safety and places a significant burden on healthcare systems. The presence of particulate matter, chemical pollutants, and harmful microorganisms in hospital air exacerbates respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, hospital-acquired infections, and antibiotic resistance. Vulnerable populations, such as the elderly and individuals with multi-morbidities, are disproportionately affected by these hazards. To mitigate these risks, hospitals must adopt a comprehensive approach that includes advanced ventilation systems, enhanced infection control practices, and policies to minimize pollution exposure. Optimizing airflow rates, integrating effective filtration technologies, and adhering to infection prevention protocols can significantly reduce microbial contamination and improve indoor air quality. Thoughtful architectural designs that promote natural airflow and antimicrobial materials further enhance safety in high-risk areas.Sustained improvements require continuous air quality monitoring, regular system maintenance, and interdisciplinary collaboration among healthcare professionals, architects, and environmental scientists. By prioritizing air quality improvement, hospitals can create safer environments for patients, staff, and visitors while reducing morbidity, mortality, and economic burdens. Addressing air pollution in hospitals is not only essential for patient safety but also a fundamental step toward delivering high-quality healthcare services that protect public health.
