چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aims: In recent years, the use of artificial intelligence as a tool to increase efficiency and support decision-making in the healthcare domain, such as in emergency departments, has received considerable attention. The aim of this research is to examine the role of AI tools in managing emergency departments, with an emphasis on patient triage. Through this study, it is possible to analyze how to improve the accuracy and speed of initial assessments, streamline clinical workflows, and address related challenges including data quality and integration with existing systems, .... Methods: This study is a library-based, descriptive-analytical study that has reviewed articles related to artificial intelligence, patient triage, and emergency department management published between ۲۰۲۱ and ۲۰۲۵, by searching electronic databases such as Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, Science Direct, and others. Results: The study's findings indicate that the use of tools such as Corti AI, Clinical Data-Based Systems (Montefiore Nyack, Mayo, TriageGO), OpenPose, and YOLO globally has demonstrated significant advancements in patient triage. These tools have led to reduced diagnostic time, improved accuracy, decreased workload for medical teams, optimized resource allocation, and enhanced patient treatment outcomes, among other benefits. Therefore, artificial intelligence is regarded as a high-potential complementary tool for improving the quality of emergency services. However, it is also accompanied by challenges such as ensuring accurate and up-to-date data, maintaining patient privacy, guaranteeing transparency, and addressing algorithmic fairness, among others. Conclusion: aligning clinical experience with modern technological advancements and creating opportunities for training and organizational cultural shifts paves the way for the optimal use of AI in emergency departments. Future initiatives—such as integrating AI systems with telemedicine and real-time analytics—offer promising prospects for strengthening healthcare systems and improving responsiveness during critical situations.
