چکیده مقاله:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has rapidly grown in recent years, with significant uses for the field of oncology. The combination of AI into oncology represents a remarkable shift in cancer diagnosis and treatment. Given the importance of AI-empowered oncology, this review explores the historical development of AI and its current applications in oncology. The role of AI in radiology, endoscopy, pathology, and skin imaging, as well as its application in omics analysis and drug development will be discussed. In radiology, AI-powered tools are used for image segmentation, classification, and quality improvement. AI is also utilized in endoscopy to improve the detection accuracy of gastrointestinal cancers. AI has the potential to automate the analysis of pathological images in clinical settings. Moreover, AI is used to analyse large-scale omics data, identify biomarkers, and stratify patients according to their molecular profiles. Besides, AI is transforming the drug development process by enabling the prediction of drug responses and the discovery of potential drug targets. Despite its potential, challenges such as overfitting, the black box problem, and domain shift will be addressed to fully realize AI's capabilities in oncology. Thus, this article provides a mini-review of AI's applications, current challenges, and future directions in cancer diagnosis and treatment.
