چکیده مقاله:

The present study investigated the role of emotion regulation in explaining the relationship between personality traits and sleep quality of university students . This study used descriptive - correlational method and structural equation modeling . The statistical population included all students of Tabriz University in ۱۴۰۲ , from which ۲۴۰ people were selected by cluster random sampling . The Petersburg Sleep Quality Inventory ( PSQI ; Boyce et al ., ۱۹۸۹), the New Five-Factor Personality Inventory ( NEO - FFI ; Costa & McCrae , ۱۹۸۹ ) , and the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire ( ERQ ; Gross , ۲۰۰۳ ) were used to collect data . The results of structural equation modeling showed that the proposed model had a good fit .The results of the study showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between extraversion , eagerness for new experiences , agreeableness , and professional responsibility with emotional regulation and sleep quality . Also , a negative and significant relationship was observed between neuroticism and emotional regulation and sleep quality ( P < ۰.۰۱ ) . The results of the bootstrap test also showed that emotional regulation acts as a mediator in the relationship between personality traits and sleep quality ( P < ۰.۰۱ ) . This The findings suggest that emotion regulation can mediate the relationship between personality traits and sleep quality .
