چکیده مقاله:
Introduction: Sleep quality and narcissism are important factors affecting students' mental health. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between sleep quality and symptoms of narcissism, as well as the mediating role of self-efficacy in students of Tabriz University. Methods: The present study was a descriptive-correlational study using structural equation modeling. The statistical population included ۱,۲۳۵ students of Tabriz University in ۲۰۱۳, of which ۱۵۳ were selected using a multi-stage cluster method. Data were collected using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Questionnaire (PSQI), General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSE-۱۰), and Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI-۱۶) and analyzed with SPSS-۲۵ and Amos software.Findings: Sleep quality had a positive direct effect on self-efficacy (β = ۰.۴۵, p = ۰.۰۰۱) and a negative direct effect on narcissism (β = -۰.۲۸, p = ۰.۰۲). Self-efficacy was also significantly associated with reduced narcissism (β = -۰.۳۲, p = ۰.۰۱). The mediating role of self-efficacy in the relationship between sleep quality and narcissism was confirmed (β = -۰.۱۴, p < ۰.۰۵). Conclusion: The findings showed that improving sleep quality through increasing self-efficacy can lead to a reduction in narcissism symptoms in students. It is suggested that educational programs to improve sleep and strengthen self-efficacy be implemented in university environments in order to improve students' mental health.
