چکیده مقاله:
This article explores the complex relationship between mental health disorders and criminal behavior, emphasizing the neuropsychological foundations of mental illnesses and their impact on criminal responsibility. By examining disorders in brain regions such as the prefrontal cortex and amygdala, as well as imbalances in neurotransmitters, we explain how mental health conditions can disrupt cognitive and emotional processes, thereby increasing the likelihood of criminal behavior. The article also addresses the legal challenges associated with attributing criminal responsibility to individuals with mental illnesses and proposes a balanced approach that integrates scientific insights with ethical and legal principles. Through case studies and policy recommendations, the article underscores the necessity of interdisciplinary collaboration to reform criminal justice practices and improve outcomes for affected individuals.
