چکیده مقاله:

The two concepts of faith and jihad are very important in the Holy Quran. One of the surahs of the Quran that put these two concepts together is Surah Saf, which has two main axes of its content: one is the superiority of Islam over other religions and the other is the obligation to fight in the way of God to preserve and expand this religion. In the first to ninth verses of this surah, the topic of jihad is mentioned among the characteristics of firm faith, which indicates a kind of relationship between the two concepts of faith and jihad. In this article, these verses are examined in a descriptive-analytical way to clarify the relationship between these two concepts and their educational role. Examining the verses shows that there is a two-way connection between jihad and firm faith. That is, just as Jihad in the way of God is one of the characteristics of firm faith, persevering in war also requires true faith in God Almighty and possessing the characteristics of firm faith. Persistence in the field of Jihad is directly related to other characteristics of firm faith: glorifying God makes the heart strong, avoiding idle talk, making steady steps, avoiding hurting the prophets, making obedience, avoiding lying to God, raising the morale of Muslims and identifying hypocrites, and believing in God with a heart, makes sacrificing one's life in advancing the goals of Islam. It is because of the greatness of Islam that Jihad in the way of God is among the features of firm faith, because it must be protected and the obstacles to its growth and expansion must be removed. Therefore, the goal of Islam is not war and bloodshed, but the expansion of high human values. According to this, Jihad becomes obligatory when the lives and beliefs of Muslims are attacked by the enemies, so they fight with the enemies to defend their lives and beliefs, otherwise, it is not permissible.
