The Principle of Human Dignity and Religious Education: Looking at Human Dignity as an Educational Basis Relying on Prophetic Teachings

Dignity is one of the concepts that is used with great emphasis in Islamic culture and is the origin and basis of many rights such as the right to life, the right to form a family, education, etc. From the point of view of divine religions, man has a special honor and dignity. This emphasis on human dignity is such that some believe that the idea of human rights is a religious theory because of the belief in human dignity (Perry, ۱۹۹۸: ۶-۷). In the Holy Quran, it is stated that God has given dignity to man and all the children of Adam have dignity (Isra', ۷۰( xxx xxx xxx xxxx xxxxxxxxxx xx xxxxx xxxxxxxxx xx xxxxx )xxxxxxx, ۳۰(x hence, every human being is a symbol of divine greatness and a divine deposit. He was created in such a way that he is called the right caliphate. In the Western world, Immanuel Kant has emphasized the theory of human dignity. He made 'moral self-regulation' his philosophical axis and introduced it as the basis of human dignity. In Kant's thinking, autonomy is inherent in human nature and his rational nature. In this self-regulation, the recognition of the right, the recognition of the principles of equality and equality of all human beings is placed as a principle. Every person is morally obliged to respect the rights of others and respect others. Man is a 'goal' and not a 'tool'. Except for humans, everything is a tool and has a 'price' and can be exchanged for something that is equivalent or of the same quality. One of the important issues in the field of Islamic education is the foundations and principles that education is based on, and these foundations strengthen the family institution. In general, every school and moral and educational method bases its educational activities on a principle and axis, and this principle and axis is the mother principle from which other principles branch out. Considering that the main focus of education in Islam is human dignity, the position and status of human dignity are clarified in the framework of the Islamic education system. In fact, each of the elements of the educational system, such as goals, methods, principles, etc., must somehow be influenced by the principle of respect and human dignity. Therefore, the influence of the element of dignity in other educational elements is decisive. Accordingly, in this article, relying on the guidelines of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), the author aims to explain human dignity and its foundations and then examine the results and consequences of this educational principle.
