چکیده مقاله:
Aim: The aim of the present study was to predict suicidal ideation in students based on childhood abuse experience. Method: This was a descriptive-correlational study. The statistical population included all students of Semnan University in the academic year ۲۰۲۳-۲۰۲۴, from which ۳۰۰ people were selected using the convenience sampling method. In this study, a questionnaire on suicidal ideation and childhood trauma was used. Pearson correlation test and stepwise regression were used to analyze the data. Findings: The results showed that the components of childhood abuse experience (emotional abuse, sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional neglect, and physical neglect) had a positive and significant correlation with suicidal ideation. The regression results also indicated that the components of childhood abuse experience explained ۴۱% of the variance in suicidal ideation. Thus, first sexual abuse with a higher coefficient, and then emotional neglect, emotional abuse, and physical abuse, respectively, were able to predict suicidal ideation. Conclusion: According to the results obtained, the components of childhood abuse experience played an important role in students' suicidal ideation. Based on these findings, more attention can be paid to the role of the components of childhood abuse experience to provide a basis for reducing suicidal ideation. It is recommended that mental health professionals consider these factors when developing suicide prevention and intervention programs.
