چکیده مقاله:

Klebsiella pneumoniae, a Gram-negative opportunistic pathogen, is a significant cause of various healthcare-associated infections, particularly due to its high resistance to multiple antibiotics. The emergence of multidrug-resistant strains has limited treatment options, necessitating the exploration of alternative therapies. Medicinal plants, rich in bioactive compounds like alkaloids, phenolics, and terpenoids, have demonstrated promising antibacterial properties against K. pneumoniae. This review explores the potential of various medicinal plants and their extracts in combating K. pneumoniae infections. Highlighting studies on garlic, turmeric, ginger, neem, and others, the review summarizes mechanisms such as disruption of bacterial membranes, inhibition of enzymatic pathways, and enhancement of antibiotic efficacy through synergistic effects. These findings underscore the potential of plant-based therapies as complementary or alternative approaches to traditional antibiotics, offering hope in addressing the growing challenge of antibiotic resistance.
