چکیده مقاله:
The purpose of the current research is to investigate the translations of metaphors in the book Tuesdays with Morrie, which were done by two Iranian translators, Mehdi Qaracheh Daghi and Mahmoud Danaei, and the translation of metaphors was investigated based on the Catford’s translation model. Among the objectives of the research, it can be mentioned that which of the translators has used and conformed more or less to Catford's translation model. The research method in the questions is first qualitative and then quantitative, so the method used can be a mixed method. The preparation of qualitative data was done through the library method and the quantitative method because statistical facts were used to summarize and reach a clear answer to the main research questions. The method of data analysis is based on the fact that the main book is studied first and then a list of metaphors is prepared and adjusted. It should be noted that this list is randomly prepared from the translations available throughout the book. It should be noted that the reason for using this book apart from the mentioned conceptual topics is that this book has been the best-selling and most influential book for many years. The prepared list was distributed among ۵ professors of the university, after the expert opinion, the final list was implemented in the translation of the translators and the translations were compared and matched based on the Catford’s model. Finally, to check the percentage of compliance with Catford's translation model, items and variables are compared. It has been measured and implemented in SPSS software version ۲۴. The results indicate that the translation of Mehdi Qaracheh Daghi is more consistent with Catford's translation model than the translation of Mahmoud Danaei.
