چکیده مقاله:

With the expansion of the Internet in recent years and the increase in the use of social networks, students' academic adjustment has been affected. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between the use of virtual social networks and academic adjustment in medical students at Zahedan University of Medical Sciences. The results showed that the average social media usage score in students of medicine was ۵۷.۷۴ ± ۱۲.۵۰ and the average overall academic adjustment score in students of Medicine was ۱۰۴.۱۹ ± ۱۸.۰۹. In this study, Pearson correlation coefficient test showed that the amount of social media usage had an inverse and significant relationship with academic adjustment in medical students (r= -۰.۱۷۷, p=۰.۰۱۷) so that as the social media usage scores increased, the academic adjustment scores in students decreased. It seems that high levels of social media usage reduce students' academic adjustment. Therefore, paying attention to controlling the amount of social media usage and trying to teach its targeted use during education are significant components in promoting academic adjustment in medical students.
