چکیده مقاله:
This article aims at pointing out the importance of using illustrations as an enjoyable and effective way of teaching English as a foreign language. This research was conducted through fundamental and theoretical method and the research. The method of this study according to nature is descriptive. The study is composed of three main sections: the importance of English Language Teaching, the importance of illustrations as tools, and the importance of using illustrations in English Language Teaching. Recent researches have shown that illustrations in English language teaching have not usually been paid much attention to. It should be mentioned that in this study, illustrations as tools contribute to the concretization of abstract notions and better teaching of grammar points as well as better understanding of texts. So, it has been concluded that use of illustrations in language education will make English Language Teaching more enjoyable and long lasting. The general conclusion to be drawn from this paper is that illustrations should be used more carefully and accurately in English teaching. Illustrators should also be educated about creation and application of such learning tools. It is assumed that illustrations improve positively when the above mentioned factors are taken into account before use of illustrations.
