چکیده مقاله:

Energy storage technology plays a major role in the management of energy systems by enabling the integration of renewable energy sources, grid stability and efficiency. This articles explores different energy storage sources including: pumped hydro storage (PHS), supercapacitors, batteries, and superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES). The technologies have been evaluated on critical parameters like load management, power quality and stability, power generation rate (MW), discharge time, applications, and geographical availability. Pumped hydro storage -- the most widely used method of energy storage -- plants use gravitational potential energy to store and generate electricity. It is a superb load manager of where you can provide energy from the ۱۰۰ MW range to well over ۳۰۰۰ MW and discharge time of hours and even days. But PHS is only in areas with correctly orographic topography, e.g. USA, China and Europe. Supercapacitors are effective for applications that require rapid bursts of energy due to their fast charge and discharge properties. They have a high power density, yet a lower energy density compared to batteries. Supercapacitor is in mass production product already in Europe and Japan. Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries gained popularity due to their versatility and falling price. They provide power in the range of ۱ kW to several MW and charge/discharge duration.
